Clearfield, Utah, in Davis County, is 4 miles NW of Layton, Utah. The people of the city are in the Salt Lake City-Ogden metropolitan area.
Clearfield History
Clearfield was one of the last communities to be settled in the northern part of Davis County. It was once named Sandridge. Richard and Emily Hamblin settled in the area now known as Clearfield in 1877. The Utah Central Railroad first entered the area in 1869. In the 1940s, Clearfield developed rapidly due to the foundation of the Hill Air Force Base.

Clearfield offers a wide variety of opportunities for recreation, as Bicentennial Park, Steed Park, Fisher Park, Kiwanis Park, and Clearfield Central Park are all located in the Clearfield area. One can enjoy shopping at the Clearfield Shopping Center. The Hill Aerospace Museum, Pioneer Village, the Roy Historical Museum, the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, and the Ogden Union Station Museums provide insight into the area’s history. One can also plan a family day trip to the Antelope Island State Park, Willard Bay State Park, or the Great Salt Lake State Park.
